Leo van Versendaal

The journey follows the people traveling on the amazon river boat upstream from the Colombian port town of Leticia to Perus most important jungle town Iquitos and further on to Yurimaguas. 

All kind of different people are using the boat on its multiple day trip with only a few stops in some of the wide spread river settlements: A mother and her children on their way to school in a bigger town, palmoil workers leaving their jungle villages or a woman with parrots taught to speak on her journey to Lima.

 

Even the notorious Ernesto Che Guevara is said to have travelled on one of the few two storey river boats on his way to a leprosy missionary station in the jungle.
